Communication from the City Manager and the Fire Chief with a Request to APPROVE the SALE of an ALUMINUM BOAT that is not usable by the Peoria Fire Department.

BACKGROUND: The aluminum boat was acquired, along with other dive equipment, from the Peoria County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) after their dive team was disbanded. Many of the items acquired were usable by the Fire Department, however the boat does not operate to the needs of the dive team and the department. The Fire Department currently has a boat that is stationed on the river at all times (weather permitting), along with two (2) portable boats. The aluminum boat would also include an outboard 150 hp Mercury motor.
The sale will be advertised and a bid process will be used for the sale of the aluminum boat.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The proceeds from this sale would be deposited into the Fire Department account #2221-50-4902 - Suppression Tools and Replacement Parts, to be used for dive equipment purchases.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Fire Department would have funds to purchase dive equipment as needed.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The aluminum boat would be stored at the Fire Training Academy until the next City auction.
