Title

Communication from the City Manager and the Fire Chief with a Request to APPROVE a SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE of two (2) Lifepak 15 Defibrillator’s from PHYSIO CONTROL, in the Amount of $45,752.44.

Body

BACKGROUND:  The Fire Department has two (2) Lifepak 12 Defibrillator’s that are 10+ years old (two years past their expiration date) that will be replaced by the new Lifepak 15 Defibrillator’s. These Lifepak 12 Defibrillator’s will be traded in to Physio Control for a $12,000 trade-in savings on the cost of the new Lifepak 15 Defibrillator’s.

Due to the reduction of Rescue 1 and Rescue 2 in the Fire Department, these new Lifepak 15 Defibrillator’s will be placed on truck companies that are now responding to medical/rescue calls. This effort will continue to provide the care that our citizens and community have come to expect from their Fire Department.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the two (2) Lifepak 15 Defibrillator’s is $45,752.44, which includes the $12,000 trade-in savings. Partial funding ($43,000) is available in account #401-2201-551.54-99 (Project F1901), with the remaining $2,752.44 from the Fire Department Operation Budget line item 2210-50.35-09.
