Communication from the City Manager and Interim Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE the Following RESOLUTIONS to Reconcile Completed City Projects as Part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Motor Fuel Tax Recurring Review:

 

A.                     MFT SUPPLEMENTAL RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $350,000.00, for Improvements to WILHELM ROAD, from ALLEN ROAD to NORTHTRAIL DRIVE;

 

B.                     MFT SUPPLEMENTAL RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $657,278.75, for Improvements to UNIVERSITY STREET from WINDOM to MACARTHUR;

 

C.                     OBLIGATION RETIREMENT RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $2,363,155.30, for CAMPUSTOWN BONDS UNIVERSITY STREET from WINDOM to MACARTHUR;

 

D.                     MFT SUPPLEMENTAL RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $200,000.00, for Improvements to UNIVERSITY STREET from W. FORREST HILL AVENUE to WAR MEMORIAL DRIVE;

Body

BACKGROUND:  Projects utilizing Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Funds must follow policies of IDOT’s Division of Local Roads. One such policy is for MFT Sections to be reconciled upon completion of a project. IDOT is currently in the process of a required review of open MFT projects. Staff has be working with IDOT to reconcile a backlog of projects to be closed out. Supplemental Resolutions are required by IDOT to reconcile MFT projects that have exceeded their original project resolution totals.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  None. These funds were budgeted and expended in previous years. The Supplemental Resolutions and Retirement Resolution are required for project completion by IDOT.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Staff will move forward with final reports required by IDOT for use of Motor Fuel Tax Funds.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  Staff will not be able to complete final reports required by IDOT for use of Motor Fuel Tax Funds.
