Title

Communication from the City Manager and the Chief Information Officer for the SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE of Automatic Vehicle Location and Response Management Applications from APPLICATION DATA SYSTEMS INC. to Allow Data Transfer Capabilities Between the Emergency Communications Center and Peoria Fire Department Vehicles, in the Amount of $81,000.00.

Body

BACKGROUND: Application Data Systems Inc. (ADSi) has provided software services to the city since 1986. ADSi provides approximately 40 different software applications for the Emergency Communications Center, Police and Fire Departments. ADSI is a privately held company and is the only vendor where we can purchase the Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and Response Management (RM) software applications that will fully integrate into our current software.

AVL allows the 911 call taker to see the actual location of a vehicle and gives them the opportunity to dispatch the closest vehicle. RM software will allow the dispatcher to electronically send information directly to the computer located in the vehicle, this is also known as silent or voiceless dispatch. The city has purchased AVL and RM from ADSi in the past to track and communicate with the Police Department vehicles. With this purchase the city will extend those capabilities into the Fire Department providing the tools that a 911 call taker needs to handle calls for service as efficiently as possible.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for the purchase is included in the CIP budget, Account #401-8401-551.53-04 Project CB1651
