Title
Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works to award the CONTRACT for the CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS SEATING PROJECT to BISHOP BROTHERS, INC. in the Amount of $138,855.  [District 1]

Body
BACKGROUND:  In July 2007, City Hall sustained a flood that started on the fourth floor and damaged most of the offices on the back half of the building.  As a result, the Rediscovering City Hall Committee took the opportunity to develop a plan to restore the building back to the 1890's era, including providing for necessary accessibility and technological improvements.

As part of the ongoing renovation of City Hall, Facility Operations will be upgrading the Council Chambers' (Room 400) gallery seating to include its compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).   The current public seating area has 101 seats and is not ADA compliant. The new seating plan will be reduced to 72 fixed public seats and 4 ADA-compliant seats with companion seating, for a total of 80 seats. Also, a new ADA-compliant Public Podium is being installed.

At its meeting on May 13, 2014 the Mayor's Advisory Committee for the Disabled (MACD) reviewed these plans for the new ADA accessible gallery seating, and the feedback was supportive.

The Purchasing Division distributed six (6) bid packages and one (1) response was received and opened on July 14, 2014.  The response is below:

               Bidder:                                    Total:
                       Bishop Brothers, Inc.                          $ 138,855

The Good Faith Efforts documentation submitted by Bishop Bros. has been reviewed and approved by the Equal Opportunity Manager. The company will be self-performing all the millwork necessary for installation of the new seating.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Funding for this project is budgeted in the 2014 Facilities Operations capital program Project CB1400 Account #401-8401-551.50-02.
