Communication from the City Manager and the Director of Public Works with a Request to Accept the LOW BID of CORRECTIVE ASPHALT MATERIALS, LLC and Award a Construction CONTRACT in the Amount of $168,799.92 for the RECLAMITE/CRF RESTORATIVE SEAL CONTRACT - 2014. [All Council Districts]
Body
BACKGROUND:  Public Works proposes to start an annual Reclamite and CRF Restorative Seal contract to preserve roads in good condition in order to prolong their life and delay costly major reconstruction projects.  Reclamite and CRF are both processes used to extend the life of pavement. Reclamite is a maltene-based rejuvenator. Rejuvenators are formulated to penetrate into pavement and enhance the properties of its asphalt binder. Reclamite is applied to pavements in good condition. CRF Restorative Seal is a petroleum oil and water emulsion that provides pavement rejuvenation, as well as sealing the pavement. CRF can be used on pavement that exhibits moderate deterioration and would not be a good candidate for Reclamite.

Public Works prepared the contract specifications, advertised the project, and bids were received and opened on August 12, 2014 with one bidder submitting. There are not many area contractors that do this type of specialty work.
