Body

BACKGROUND:

The Operations Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for traffic pavement marking throughout the City of Peoria and requires this specialized paint to maintain street markings.

In recent years, the City purchased a plural component modified urethane vehicle to provide high-quality, long-lasting pavement markings. The type of Paint will be “MFUA 10 - Modified Polyacrylate Two-Component Pavement Marking Material.” The quantities will be:

                     White-1250 Gallons

                     Yellow-1250 Gallons

                     Catalyst-1250 Gallons

Colorado Paint has been the vendor in previous years and provided a quote at $42.50 per gallon for the purchase of 3,750-gallon totes for a total amount of $159,375. The City will be invoiced for half of the total cost, and Peoria County will be invoiced for the remaining amount.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The Operations Division provides pavement marking services for the City and to other jurisdictions.  Public Works will be invoicing other jurisdictions for the labor and equipment necessary to provide requested pavement marking services, as the service is provided.  The number of services requested varies from year to year.  Funding for this material is provided in account 1013041-504904.
