Communication from the City Manager and Finance Director/Comptroller with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE LEVYING a TAX for FISCAL YEAR 2015 for the WEAVERRIDGE SPECIAL SERVICE AREA (Parcel A - Golf Course) and Adopt Appendix A as Part of the Ordinance Levying a Tax for Fiscal Year 2015 for the Weaverridge Special Service Area (Parcel A - Golf Course).

BACKGROUND: In 1997 City Council adopted Ordinance 14,138 establishing the WeaverRidge Special Service Areas. The purpose of the special service areas is to partially repay the cost of the installation of public improvements and costs associated with providing government services. The attached ordinance levies a tax in the amount of $128,000 $160,000 on those properties within the special service area. Each parcel within the WeaverRidge Special Service Area is identified by its ordinance and specific amount of the levy for that parcel of land. Listed below are the levy amounts (rounded) for each parcel. All properties are listed on the attached "Appendix A". The Special Service Area is set up so that the limited liability corporation pays the special service area portion of the property tax, not the resident.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: $128,000 $160,000 in Special Service Area tax revenue to pay WeaverRidge Special Service Area Bonds.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Adoption of the ordinances will allow the County Clerk to extend the tax as provided by law.
IMPACT IF DENIED: Special Service Area taxes will not be extended as established in Ordinance 14,138. Special Service Area taxes will not be available to repay binds used for public infrastructure improvements.
