BACKGROUND: From the time the first Colonists arrived in America, freedom of religion and religious tolerance have been and are one of the most recognized hallmarks of our country.
Peace for Peoria is an interfaith alliance dedicated to bringing people of diverse faiths into building loving relationships rooted in the traditions in each faith without denying their differences. The Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions have a common Abrahamic origin; and thus, share many commonalities which help bring the Peoria community together while simultaneously celebrating our diversity.
Peace for Peoria will host a panel of local civic, business and religious leaders who will answer questions from attendees about Islam and Muslims in an effort to promote peace and understanding through education. The City of Peoria should recognize and promote the PEACE FOR PEORIA event that celebrates religious diversity in the City of Peoria to be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Peoria Civic Center.
