Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to Concur with Staff’s Recommendation to set a PUBLIC HEARING before the City Council on TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. Regarding CITY-WIDE SEWER RATE ADJUSTMENTS.

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  The current sewer rates charged by the City of Peoria were implemented on May 1, 2017. As indicated in the 2018-2019 City budget discussions, sewer rates were reviewed and proposed rate increases of 5% are planned to occur on May 1, 2018 and May 1, 2019 to coincide with Greater Peoria Sanitary District (GPSD) fiscal year and billing cycles.

 

City Municipal Code requires that the rate adjustments be discussed at a Public Hearing (Section 31-78).

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Financial impacts will be presented at the Public Hearing.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Well-maintained sewers are a benefit to all neighborhoods.

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Public Hearing will be scheduled.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The Public Hearing will not be scheduled.
