Title

Communication from the City Manager with a Request to RECEIVE and FILE a PRESENTATION from UNITY PLACE.

Body

BACKGROUND:  UnityPlace was formed by the joining of UnityPoint Health, Human Service Center and Tazwood Center for Wellness in April of 2019. UnityPlace is a new non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the growing behavioral health care needs of the community.

Dr. Keith Knepp, Regional President and CEO of Unity Point Health and Mary Sparks Thompson, President of UnityPoint Health - UnityPlace will provide a presentation on the Unity Place Young Minds project.

The 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment reported that mental health was the top concern for Central Illinois. The Young Minds Project will provide access to child-oriented mental health treatment. Part of the project is to create a state-of-the-art hub for adolescent mental health services. When operational, the center will become a centralized treatment facility. Counselors, psychiatrists, therapy classes, and inpatient treatment will all be under the same roof for the first time.
