Title

Communication from the City Manager and Corporation Counsel with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending CHAPTER 18 of the CODE of the City of Peoria Pertaining to DANCE HALL LICENSE REGULATION.

Body

BACKGROUND:  The City currently has no siting requirement for dance halls or for youth dance halls. It would be in the best interest of the City for the City to have siting requirements for these types of establishments. In addition, some liquor licensees have expressed a desire to hold youth dances within their licensed establishments. This Amendment would require said license holders to secure any liquor in a separate location inaccessible to any patron during such a youth dance.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  None

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  None

IMPACT IF APPROVED: There will be a siting requirement for the dance halls and youth dance halls. In addition, liquor will be kept in a separate secure location during youth dances at licensed establishments.

IMPACT IF DENIED:  There will be no siting requirement for the dance halls and youth dance halls. There will be no requirement to keep liquor in a separate and secure location from patrons at a youth dance hall.
