Communication from the City Manager and Community Development Director with a Request to Receive and File a REPORT BACK Related to a DESIGN REVIEW PROCESS for the FA?ADE PROGRAM.

BACKGROUND: During the discussion on the Fa?ade Program, concern was raised by Council as to the design review process involved in the approval of a Fa?ade Application.
Staff is recommending that a small working group be established to review all Fa?ade Improvement applications that are submitted for existing and yet to be created Fa?ade Programs. This working group would have advisory authority only, and the members of the working group would not be appointed by the Council.
The working group would review the application, discuss potential modification with the applicant, and submit a report that would be included in the recommendation for funding that is sent to Council for approval.
The recommendation is that the working group be constituted as follows: Councilwoman Akeson, the District Councilperson for the application location, one City Building Inspector, one City Planner, one private architect.
