Communication from the City Manager and the Community Development Director with a Request to Approve a FA?ADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM Grant for 3705 SW Adams St, in an Amount Not to Exceed $2,535.00. (District 1)

Body
BACKGROUND: As a part of the revitalization of the Southern Gateway, Council approved a Fa?ade Improvement program which provides a grant of no more than $5,000 per property for improvements to properties within that area. The Program is intended to encourage owners and business tenants of existing properties to restore or renovate their buildings, in order to improve the area's physical character and enhance the aesthetics of the commercial environment.

To receive this grant, applicants must meet all City requirements including approval from City Council, make the improvements, and submit receipts for reimbursement of 50% of eligible expenditures in an amount not to exceed $5,000.

Laser Electric, Inc. has requested a fa?ade improvement grant for the property at 3705 SW Adams St. The improvement will consist of painting and repairing the truck bays. Because the repairs are dependent on the weather, the applicant has started the work with the understanding that the City Council must approve the application in order to receive reimbursement for the work.

The applicant attended a One Stop Shop meeting to ensure the project meets City regulations. The Fa?ade Review Committee did not have any comments on the project.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: If approved, the City will reimburse the property owner for 50% of the project, not to exceed $2,535, from funding available in the Southern Gateway Fa?ade Improvement CIP project E14003 and the property at 3705 SW Adams St. will receive funding as previously outlined.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: No neighborhoods were contacted regarding the project.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Laser Electric Inc. will be reimbursed 50% of the cost of the improvements, up to $2,535. This will a...
