Title

Recommendation from the City Manager and Community Development Director to AMEND the SOUTH VILLAGE HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM to Allow Interior Repairs.  (Council District 1)

Body

BACKGROUND:  On February 28, 2017, the City Council approved the creation of a housing rehabilitation program funded from the South Village TIF (item # 17-071).  The initial program guidelines only allowed exterior repairs.  After further consideration, Councilwoman Moore has requested that the program be modified to permit interior repairs.

All other aspects of the program, including the maximum level of assistance and the requirement that code violation issues be addresses first will remain the same.  The total amount allocated to the program ($150,000) will also remain the same.

As with other City funded housing rehabilitation programs, the anti-double-dipping policy will apply to this program.  This policy restricts access to multiple programs by individual property owners, thus allowing for increased overall participation in assistance programs.
