Title

Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE the SOLE SOURCE EMERGENCY PURCHASE from LASER ELECTRIC, INC., in the Amount of $54,514.40, for the STERLING and NEBRASKA SIGNAL MAST ARM.

Body

BACKGROUND:  On September 30, 2022, the traffic signal pole at the intersection of Sterling and Nebraska avenues was struck and damaged in a single motor vehicle accident. The damage resulted in the need for the immediate removal of the mast arm and required the other traffic signals to flash all red, turning the intersection into a four-way stop. Global supply chain issues caused delays in acquiring the materials needed to restore the intersection back to its fully functioning order.

The Sole Source Supplier for this Emergency Purchase is Laser Electric, Inc. The proposal is attached.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Funding for this purchase is provided from 1013042-504904.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  None

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Sole Source Contractor has supplied the materials and begun the service; therefore, the contract will be paid.

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The material has been ordered from this Sole Source Contractor, therefore the contractor will not be paid. The intersection of Sterling and Nebraska will stay on all-flash until further notice.

ALTERNATIVES:  N/A

EEO CERTIFICATION NUMBER: Laser Electric has current EEO Cert #00033-150930.
