ACTION REQUESTED:
Title
Communication from the City Manager, Emergency Communications Director and Finance Director/Comptroller with a Request to APPROVE the SALE of EXCESS RADIO EQUIPMENT No Longer Usable by the City.
Body
BACKGROUND: The City of Peoria normally disposes of excess property through the auction process. In some instances when there are unique items, such as radio equipment, a sale is set up to try to receive a higher price.
Over the past few years, the City has updated its radio communication systems including changing the frequency(s) the radios use. During this process some equipment has become obsolete to the city but still may have value to other City’s Public Safety Departments. This equipment includes Harris VRM vehicular repeaters, base station antennas, mobile antennas, Kenwood mobile radios, Harris portable radios, Harris EDACS control stations, miscellaneous parts and accessories, sirens, speakers, light bars and emergency lighting.
The sale will be advertised and a bid process will be used for the items.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Proceeds from the sale would be deposited into the Capital Fund.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: None
IMPACT IF APPROVED: Selling the excess equipment will help with storage problems at the Public Works facilities. There will also be an addition to the Capital Fund of the proceeds.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The equipment will be stored until the next City Auction.
