Title
Communication from the City Manager with a Request to APPROVE a FA?ADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM Grant for SR PROPERTY HOLDINGS LLC (Haggerty Brothers Company) at 927 SW WASHINGTON ST., in an Amount Not-to-Exceed $5,000.00. (Council District 1)

Body
BACKGROUND: Haggerty Brothers Company (SR Property Holdings, LLC), has requested a fa?ade improvement grant of $5,000 for their business at 927 SW Washington. Haggerty Brothers purchased this property in the Warehouse District in late 2015 and have renovated the southern half of the building. It now serves as the showroom for their industrial supply company. The northern half of the building is still vacant and awaiting future development. The overall fa?ade improvement will be around $10,000 and will include the installation of an awning along Washington and exterior lighting along Washington and Maple.

Council has created Fa?ade Improvement Programs to assist with the revitalization of commercial buildings and neighborhoods. Grants reimbursements for 50% of eligible project cost up to $5,000 per property are made available for fa?ade improvements. The program is intended to encourage owners and business tenants of existing properties to restore or renovate their buildings in order to improve the area's physical character and enhance the aesthetics of the commercial environment.

Fa?ade grants are provided on the condition that: a) funds are available, b) proposed improvements are eligible, c) the project is approved by City Council, d) improvements are completed according to an agreement, and e) receipts are verified for reimbursement. Payment of this grant is contingent upon the applicant pulling a building permit and doing work according the City codes.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: If approved, the City will reimburse 50% of eligible project cost up to $5,000 and will utilize funds from the Warehouse District Fa?ade Improvement CIP Project T14004.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: None.
