Title
Communication from the City Manager and the Community Development Director with a Request to APPROVE $15,000.00 from the 2016 COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PLAN (CIP) Neighborhood Programs Project to Rebuilding Together Peoria for Housing Rehabilitation Projects.

Body
BACKGROUND:
Rebuilding Together Peoria (RTP), formerly Christmas is April, is a volunteer organization that, in partnership with the community, rehabilitates the homes of low-income elderly, disabled, and military veteran homeowners so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence. All homeowners must meet strict eligibility requirements and are selected by RTP.

Over the past 23 years, RTP has assisted 241 households within the City of Peoria.
* 134 households in Council District 1
* 40 homes in Council District 2
* 58 homes in Council District 3
* 9 homes in Council District 4

Through the use of donations and volunteers, the market value of RTP improvements exceeds triple the amount of the grants awarded by the City of Peoria. This $15,000 will contribute to a minimum of four (4) household repairs for City residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds will be allocated from the 2016 CIP Neighborhood Programs

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: This project will rehabilitate properties in order to strengthen neighborhoods.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Rebuilding Together will be able to leverage awarded funds to provide rehab services to additional homeowners in Peoria. Saturday, April 29, 2017 is Rebuilding Together 24th annual National Rebuilding Day - the organization's largest volunteer day. The approval of these funds will assist with current application intake and prioritization for the 2017 programming.

IMPACT IF DENIED: Rebuilding Together will not receive $15,000 and another activity will have to be identified.
