Body
BACKGROUND: Public Works proposes the annual storm sewer repair contract for 2017. This contract eliminates the delays experienced waiting for design, bidding, letting and Council approval of individual contracts for each repair project. The repairs will be designed "in the field" and paid based on the time and materials bid. This is an opportunity for the Public Works Engineering Division to improve efficiency and be more responsive.

Public Works prepared the contract specifications and bids were received on December 13, 2016 with five bidders submitting. The results are shown below:

Contractor Base Bid Amount

Hoerr Construction, Inc. $165,217.40
J.C. Dillon, Inc. $190,856.90
Illinois Civil Contractors, Inc. $235,705.07
PIPCO Companies Ltd $255,750.00
Walker Excavation Co, Inc. $359,416.57

The base bid represented quantities we would expect to see on a single project and covers typical pay items we expect to see throughout the contract.
