BACKGROUND:
U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY - The City of Peoria has received a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to be used to conduct community-wide hazardous and petroleum assessments at eligible brownfield sites. The City will inventory, characterize, assess and if appropriate, conduct cleanup planning on priority sites. Funds will also be used for public outreach and community involvement/public participation processes. Brownfields are real property, the expansion, development or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. The receipt and expenditure of this grant needs to be reflected in the 2015 Capital Fund Budget in the amount of $400,000.
