Communication from the City Manager and Corporation Counsel with a Request to APPROVE a RESOLUTION Amending Resolution No. 88-240 Pertaining to INDEMNIFICATION.

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  In March of 2010, the City Council amended Resolution No. 88-240 providing for the indemnification of members of the Board of Trustees of the Firefighters Pension Fund. This suggested amendment provides for the indemnification of members of the Board of Trustees of the Police Pension Fund as well.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  None, unless there would be a claim. There has not been a claim against a Trustee for a considerable period of time.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  N/A

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: It would be clear as to whether Police Commission members are indemnified by the City.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  It would be unclear as to whether Police Commission members are indemnified by the City.

 

ALTERNATIVES:  The Board of Trustees of the Police Pension Fund could purchase insurance to protect against this risk.
