A. APPROVE the PURCHASE of TWO (2) BATTALION CHIEF'S VEHICLES, Utilizing the State of Illinois Joint Purchasing Contracts from MILES CHEVROLET, in the AMOUNT of $84,326.00; and

B. APPROVE the PURCHASE and Installation of ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT (Lights, Sirens, Radio, Etc.) Utilizing the Current Electronic Services Contract with SUPREME RADIO (#21-031) in the AMOUNT of $22,222.00.

BACKGROUND: The 2021 Capital Improvement Budget provides for the purchase of TWO (2) vehicles for use by the Fire Department Battalion Chief's. These vehicles are not only used in the daily management of the Fire Department, they are also used as response vehicles. The current vehicles are over six (6) years old and in need of continual repairs.

Although the vehicles were approved in the capital budget for capital equipment, fully equipped, the vehicles came in over the amount budgeted and per section 10-100 (c) of the City Code:

All purchases for capital equipment, which have been previously approved by the city council as part of the annual budget, may be executed by the city manager without further council approval if the actual purchase amount is less than the amount contained in the approved budget.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this project is provided in the capital budget account 4012201 525404 project F2102

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City of Peoria will have reliable vehicles for the fire operations.

IMPACT IF DENIED: Maintenance costs will continue to increase on the older vehicles.
