Communication from the City Manager and Corporation Counsel with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending the RULES of the City Council.

BACKGROUND:
The Illinois Municipal Code provides that the city council shall determine its own rules of proceeding. Rule 28 of the City of Peoria City Council Rules provides that future Councils may pass their own rules Ordinance within ninety (90) days of the commencement of terms of newly elected At Large or District Council Members. This ninety (90)-day term may be extended by any newly seated Council.
An Ordinance amending Ordinance Number 17,635 (Council Rules) is attached for your consideration.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City will amend its rules to remove gender references and to update rules pursuant to input from Council Members and City Staff.
IMPACT IF DENIED: No official action will be taken.
