Title
Communication from the City Manager and the Fire Chief with a Request for the Following:

A. ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending the City of Peoria 2020 - 2021 BIENNIAL BUDGET Relating the Capital Fund to Recognize the Receipt of Insurance Proceeds, in the Amount of $333,031.00, and Purchase of one (1) Fire Engine, and

B. APPROVE the PURCHASE of one (1) Fire Engine from BANNER FIRE EQUIPMENT (E-One), in the Amount of $583,031.00.

Body
BACKGROUND: Fire Engine 20 was totaled in an accident in 2020. The insurance proceeds from this accident totals $333,031. The 2020 Community Investment Plan project F2003 has a balance of $250,000 to be used for the purchasing of fire fleet. The City would use the insurance proceeds and the CIP balance to purchase the new fire engine to replace Engine 20. Any insurance recovered from the individual who caused the accident will be returned to the Capital Fund.

Bids were not issued, as E-One will honor the 2019 prices for the purchase of the new fire engine in 2020.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the fire engine is $583,031. $250,000 of the purchase price is included in the CIP account (F2003), with the remaining amount ($333,031) coming from insurance proceeds relating to the accident of Engine 20.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The fire engine that was totaled in an accident would be replaced without adjustment to the operating budget or the CIP budget, using remaining CIP monies and insurance proceeds. Cost savings due to the ability to use 2019 prices.

IMPACT IF DENIED: Fire Engine 20 would not be replaced, impacting emergency services to the community.
