Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE the TREE PURCHASING AND PLANTING CONTRACT from D.A. HOERR & SONS, INC., in an Amount Not to Exceed $50,000.00, to Purchase Trees to Plant on City Property and Rights of Way.

BACKGROUND: A Request for Proposals was published on March 22, 2023, with a closing date of April 13, 2023, to supply tree stock of specified sizes and forms for street trees and public space plantings for the spring and fall of 2023. One response was received from D.A. Hoerr & Sons, Inc. (Hoerr Nursery). Hoerr Nursery is the longest-established landscaping, nursery, and garden center in the Peoria metropolitan area.
This contract will assist in supplying trees for the replacement of hazardous trees removed from City rights of way. Furthermore, to maintain the tree canopy throughout the City, it will be used for placement recommendations by either citizens and/or professional advisement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for these expenditures is provided in the 2023 Operations Budget for Public Improvements.
