BACKGROUND: The City of Peoria continues to plan for the Riverfront Park improvements. In 2018, Community Development pursued a funding opportunity through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to begin some infrastructure improvements in the riverfront area. A $100,000 grant was awarded in 2019. Since that time, Community Development and Public Works have been working to define the proper improvements to be constructed.
The project will improve pedestrian access routes at key entry points to the Riverfront Park at Commercial Street, Liberty Street, and Main Street.
The plans and specifications were prepared by Terra Engineering, LTD. The Advertisement for Bids for this project was published in the Peoria Journal Star and on the City's website. Public Works opened Bids on June 1, 2023, with 2 bids received.
