Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request for the Following: (Council District 1)

A. APPROVE and Authorize the City Manager to Execute an AGREEMENT with ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (IDOT), in the Amount of $5,209.00 Plus Contingencies, for the City's Participation in Pavement Paving on IL 8 from W. MARTIN STREET to W. MOSS AVENUE and Traffic Signal Modernization; and

B. APPROVE a RESOLUTION Authorizing the City's Estimated Minimum Local Agency Funding Match in the Amount of $5,209.00, Subject to Approval from the ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (IDOT), for the Pavement Paving on IL 8 from W. MARTIN STREET to W. MOSS AVENUE and Traffic Signal Modernization.

Body
BACKGROUND: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), in order to facilitate the free flow of traffic and ensure safety of the motoring public, is desirous of performing pavement patching and modernization of existing traffic signal installations by installing new video detection systems and be performing all other work necessary to complete the improvements in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. The City is desirous of the improvements in that same will be immediate benefit to the motoring and pedestrian public.

IDOT has agreed to make the surveys, prepare plans and specifications, receive bids and award the contract, furnish engineering inspection during construction and cause the improvement to be built in accordance with plans, specifications and contract. IDOT has also agreed to pay for all construction and engineering costs, subject to reimbursement by the City, as stipulated.

The City will provide partial funding for this project. The City will be responsible for up to 125% of the estimated costs of the traffic signal.

The total cost of IDOT's project is estimated at $688,850.00
