BACKGROUND: Public Works regularly receives citizen complaints concerning traffic speed. One of the methods the Department has been using to address this concern is to install radar speed feedback signs. These signs show drivers their actual speed versus the posted speed limit. This real-time information helps to reinforce the posted speed limit and, hopefully, encourages better-driving behavior.
Decker Supply Company is the local distributor/partner to represent TraffiCalm Systems for all traffic safety products within the State of Illinois.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Account #1013041-504904 for Traffic Supplies
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: These speed feedback signs will be used to address neighborhood speeding concerns. Neighborhood input would be used in the location of the devices, when applicable.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: Traffic Feedback Signs could be ordered in a timely manner.
IMPACT IF DENIED: Installation of Traffic Feedback Signs may have a delay as citizen complaints are received.
