Communication from the Township Clerk Requesting Approval of Designating TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR FRANK ABDNOUR as the TOWNSHIP IMRF AUTHORIZED AGENT.

body

BACKGROUND:  As stipulated in the IMRF Manual, the authorized agent should be the person with the necessary skills and authority to serve both the unit of government and its IMRF members.  The qualifications for an authorized agent includes having a close working knowledge of all personnel employed by the unit of government, including new and terminated employees; has access to personnel records, payrolls, and other employee compensation records; has an adequate channel of communication with the local governing body; and has sufficient time to perform local administrative IMRF functions.  With the majority of Township employees being physically located in the same location as the Township Supervisor’s office and with the Township payroll person being his employee, it is recommended that Frank Abdnour, Township Supervisor, be designated as the Township IMRF Authorized Agent.  It should also be noted that because IMRF is a complex system, training is provided to newly elected officials initially and as the Act changes.
