BACKGROUND: The Resolution is being presented for approval because it is required by the Public Building Commission Act before the Public Building Commission ("PBC") can expend bond funds that it has available for the campus expansion and construction of athletic facilities at Peoria Central High School. The Act requires the City to approve the sites selected by the PBC.
The PBC has funds that remain available after completion of the improvements and new construction at Lincoln Grade School and Peoria Central High School. This site approval resolution is required because the additional land acquired by District 150 for the campus expansion has not been the subject of a prior site approval resolution.
The campus expansion includes new athletic facilities including baseball and softball fields, track and field facilities, and a soccer field.
The School District has a special meeting scheduled for April 23, 2014 to take formal action to approve the agreement with the PBC to construct the improvements. The PBC is scheduled to approve the project and PBC participation at its April 24, 2014 meeting.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct impact on the City budget.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Neighborhood concerns have been addressed during the zoning application process for the campus expansion project.
