Traffic Control Corporation will provide the labor to install the equipment in the traffic control boxes, but all other labor will be provided by City Electricians.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this purchase will be provided from the Capital Improvement Budget for Traffic Signal Preemption Systems, account # 401-8401-556.36-54, project # PB1415.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
IMPACT IF APPROVED: Firefighter and citizen safety will be enhanced. Studies have shown that traffic preemption systems can improve response time of fire apparatus by 20% and reduce accidents at controlled intersections.
IMPACT IF DENIED: Firefighters and citizen safety at intersections would not be improved as firefighters attempt to get the attention of the motoring public and gain the right-of-way at intersections.
