Communication from the City Manager and the Fire Chief with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Authorizing a First Addendum to the MUTUAL AID BOX ALARM SYSTEM (MABAS) AGREEMENT.

BACKGROUND: The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Agreement allows the lending of mutual aid support to other fire departments in the State of Illinois during large scale emergencies such as fires, tornado's, floods, etc. The Peoria Fire Department has been a participant of this agreement for 20 years and has assisted numerous other fire departments in the State (and in other states). As the cost of lending mutual aid support has increased in recent times, communities have determined it necessary to agree in advance on cost reimbursement issues prior to the occurrence of an actual emergency. This addendum will allow our department the ability to discern the amount of charges to assess for a mutual aid response within the protocols of the MABAS by-laws.
