Communication from the City Manager and Finance Director/Comptroller with a Request to APPROVE a RESOLUTION Authorizing the Execution of a Service AGREEMENT with the Lowest Responsible Bidder for the Supply of Natural Gas for City Facilities.

BACKGROUND:  The City has been approached to participate in a municipal buying consortium to purchase natural gas. Purchasing natural gas through a buying consortium that includes dozens of Illinois municipalities who coordinate their purchase of this commodity is expected to generate cost-savings for the City.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The City will enter into a contract as part of a municipal buying consortium, of dozens of Illinois municipalities, that is anticipated to save the City money when purchasing natural gas for City-owned facilities.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  None. 

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City Manager will be authorized to enter into a contract to purchase natural gas for City facilities, as part of a buying consortium that includes dozens of Illinois municipalities, from the lowest responsible bidder to generate cost savings for the City.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED: The City will continue to purchase its natural gas through Ameren Illinois, foregoing any savings achieved through the buying consortium’s lowest responsible bidder.
