Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to Award a SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT to WAYNE STOHL & SONS PLASTERING CO., in the Amount of $29,400.00, for the RE-PLASTERING of CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS. (Refer to 08-326 and 12-198)

Body :
BACKGROUND:
In 2007, after water damaged the back half of the City Hall building, bids were solicited bids for re-plastering the damaged areas (Bid #17-08). Three (3) plastering companies were invited to provide a room sampling their work. The Rediscovering City Hall Committee determined that Wayne Stohl and Sons provided the best product to match the 1890's time period. Consequently, in 2008 Wayne Stohl and Sons was awarded the entire contract for the re-plastering of City Hall for the amount of $340,336. Insurance reimbursed about 80% of that cost. In 2012, the contractor was awarded $16,000 for the plastering of Rooms 404 and 405, funded by the 2012 capital budget.

As part of the continuing renovation of City Hall, the refurbishing of the Council Chambers (Room 400), includes plastering the walls to match the 1890's time period. Retaining Wayne Stohl and Sons for this work will keep the plastering work uniform with previous renovations and consistent with 1890's style.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Contractor has provided a quote for the work, for the amount of $29,400, which is consistent with all of his other work at City Hall. Funding for this work is budgeted in 2014 Facilities Operations Capital program 401-8401-551.50-02 Project CB1400.
