BACKGROUND: The Peoria Fire Department was awarded a SAFER Grant in September of 2022 affording the ability to hire 11 new Firefighters into the department to assist in maintaining adequate staffing for frontline firefighters. With the hiring of new personnel, fire gear purchasing is vital to properly supply new hires with the appropriate gear for training and on the job duties.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of 11 sets of fire gear is $28,215.00.
