Communication from the City Manager and the Chief of Police for the PURCHASE of Factory Ammunition for Police Duty Use from KIESLER POLICE SUPPLY, in the Low Bid Amount of $25,386.00.

BACKGROUND:
The Purchasing Division solicited bids for the annual purchase of factory ammunition for duty use by the Police Department.
The bid specifications were manufacturer and type specific, based on the FBI ballistic test data with no substitutions allowed. There were eleven (11) bids solicited and five (5) responded.
The following vendors' responses were received:
Kiesler Police Supply $25,386
Ray O'Herron Company Alternate Bid one item only
Bacon Creek Guns NO BID
International Cartridge $39,111
Lawman and Shoots Supply Alternate Bid one item only
The bid summary is attached. Quantities were reduced from the original bid due to budget constraints.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for the purchase is provided in the Police operating budget account 101-2121-561.42-02.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Police Department will be able to issue new replacement ammunition to the officers for duty use.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The Police Department will have a limited supply of ammunition for training and duty use. It is anticipated we will run out of ammunition by the Fall of 2015.
