BACKGROUND: Council Members Timothy Riggenbach and Beth Jensen have been contacted by citizens concerned about the harmful effects of Coal Ash and the costs of remediation of Coal Ash Impoundments.
 
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of remediation for Coal Ash Impoundments would be unduly burdensome on the taxpayers if required to be done by the City.
 
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:   N/A
      
IMPACT IF APPROVED:  The Illinois Pollution Control Board, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, as well as the City's State Legislative Representatives and the Governor will be notified of the position of the City.
 
IMPACT IF DENIED:   The above agencies and entities will not be notified of the City's position.
