Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE a Sole Source Emergency PURCHASE from TRAFFIC CONTROL CORPORATION, in the Amount of $16,481.00.

BACKGROUND:  In September of 2021, a single accident occurred at the intersection of Adams and Spaulding causing damage to the exciting traffic signal cabinet. The cabinet was damaged beyond repair therefore a new cabinet had to be ordered to replace the damaged one. Per the agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)the city is responsible to maintain the traffic signals and is then reimbursed by IDOT. Traffic Control Corporation is a Sole Source Supplier for this material. The quote for the material is attached. 

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The Operational Budget has funds available pay the Contractor without a budget amendment. IDOT will reimburse the city for expenses and labor to complete restoration per the maintenance agreement.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  None

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Sole Source Contractor has already performed the service, therefore the Contract will be paid.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The material has been ordered from this Sole Source Contractor therefore the contractor will not be paid, and the city will not uphold our agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
