ACTION REQUESTED: 

Title

Communication from the City Manager with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending CHAPTER 21 of the CODE of the City of Peoria Pertaining to SPECIAL EVENT FEES.

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  On October 26, 2017, as part of the budget deliberations, the City Council gave direction to establish special event fees in order to help offset the cost of providing services for the events. The attached ordinance will establish a fee of $200.00 per police officer assigned to the event and a fee of $100.00 for each intersection that requires City barricades to close an intersection.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The establishment of the special event fees will provide additional revenue of approximately $120,000.00.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  No concerns expressed at the budget hearing or during citizen’s address the Council.

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The special event fees will be established. Additional revenues of approximately $120,000 will be available to the General Fund.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The special event fees will not be established and the projected additional revenues included in the budget will have to be reduced.
