BACKGROUND:
The petitioner is requesting to obtain a Special Use to establish a neighborhood youth center; the Michael Heimberg Neighborhood Youth Center, as a location for the youth associated with Law'n Order Academy.

Plans, prepared by a registered design professional, are required for this project to address occupancy change from residential to the new intended occupancy.

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5- 0 to APPROVE the request.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: N/A

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: During the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, a nearby property owner spoke against the proposed youth center, suggesting it could be housed at the East Bluff Community Center. Another resident spoke with favor of the youth center, indicating it will provide a positive outlet for neighborhood youth.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: A Neighborhood Youth Center will be established at this location.

IMPACT IF DENIED: A Neighborhood Youth Center would not be established and the property would remain as single-family residential.
