Communication from the City Manager with a Request to Hold a POLICY SESSION on VIOLENCE REDUCTION FUNDING on JULY 19, 2022 at 6:00 P.M., to be Held at City Hall, Council Chambers.

BACKGROUND: At the conclusion of the June 28, 2022 City Council Meeting, Councilman John Kelly requested that the City hold a policy session on violence reduction funding. The City will be in the receipt of $6.25 million from the State in addition to the $1.3 million of violence reduction funding set aside from the American Rescue Plan State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
Staff contacted Council and July 19, 2022 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers was the date selected for the Policy Session.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Council needs to discuss how to appropriate the state funding that will be received mid-year.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Violence is a concern for every Peoria neighborhood.
