BACKGROUND:  
The Resident Officer Program began in 2013 with the Council approval for the funding of three (3) Resident Officers in the Police Department budget.  Thus far two officers have been located and assigned to city-owned residences at 520 W. Armstrong and 1839 N. Wisconsin.  The approval of the purchase of this property on Peoria's south side will enable the Police Department to achieve the Council's goal of having three (3) full time Resident Officer positions staffed and operating in their respective neighborhoods.    
 
FINANCIAL IMPACT:  
Approximate cost of house $56,000 dependent on final closing costs and fees funded by account #401-2101-550.50-02
 
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  N/A
      
IMPACT IF APPROVED: Reduce crime and enhance quality of life by working with residents in the neighborhood.
 
IMPACT IF DENIED:  Police Department staff will continue to seek suitable housing for the south side Resident Officer deployment but the project may be delayed as a result.
