Communication from the City Manager and the Director of Community Development with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Renaming the 4600 Block of N. CALIFORNIA AVENUE to N. LYNDALE TERRACE, Peoria, Illinois. (Council District 3)

BACKGROUND: The City of Peoria is proposing to rename the 4600 block of N. California Avenue to N. Lyndale Terrace. The renaming is being proposed by the City to correct a problem, in that California Avenue is not currently continuous; it breaks south of War Memorial Drive and then resumes for this one block area (4600 block of N. California Avenue), off of E. Lyndale Road.
The street address numbers will remain the same. The attached map illustrates the area proposed to be renamed.
The same situation exists for the 4600 block of N. Missouri Avenue; however, there has not been discussions with residents on this street and therefore that change is not being proposed at this time. The City will outreach to residents in the 4600 block of N. Missouri sometime next year, and bring that request forward at that time.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: N/A
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: No concerns expressed; one resident provided a comment in support of the proposed change.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The 4600 block of N. California Avenue will be renamed to the 4600 block of N. Lyndale Terrace.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The 4600 block of N. California Avenue will not be renamed.
