BACKGROUND:  The City of Peoria is a partner organization in what is now called Active People, Healthy Illinois - Greater Peoria through participation in three grant programs funded by the Centers for Disease Control. The goal of these programs is to promote the connections between planning and community health through education and support for active transportation and the implementation of Complete Streets policies. The presentation will provide an overview of the benefits and progress of the City’s Complete Streets Policy, current and future policy and implementation opportunities, and key outcomes of the recent Complete Streets Pop-Up Demonstration on Main Street in downtown Peoria.
