BACKGROUND: The modernization of North University Street within Pioneer Industrial Park has been identified as a key project for the city and the region. At its meeting May 23, 2017 under Item #17-150, City Council approved a Resolution supporting the application for an FY2016 Economic Development grant to fund the project. The City of Peoria has received approximately $2 million in funding from an Economic Development Program (EDP) grant, approximately $2 million in funding from an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant, and has committed to funding the remaining portion.

Hermann & Associates LLC developed the plans and specifications for the project, which includes replacement of the existing pavement, drainage structures, curb and gutter, driveways and sidewalk with jointed concrete pavement, concrete sidewalk on the west, hot-mix asphalt multi-use path on the east, concrete driveways, lighting and a new drainage system. The new drainage system will include new storm sewer, manholes, inlets, underdrain, and storm water storage chamber/aggregate infiltration trench system.

A public information meeting will be held for this project prior to construction starting. The contractor will schedule the meeting and advertise its date, time and location in all local newspapers and media outlets in the City of Peoria.
