Title

Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE a CONTRACT with WASTEQUIP, in an Amount Not to Exceed $22,629.30, for the Purchase of Seventy-Five Sixty-Gallon Dome Top Litter Containers to be Used for Neighborhood Trash Cans. (All Council Districts)

Body

BACKGROUND:  As part of the 2018 Solid Waste Collection Contract, PDC will collect trash from up to 250 neighborhood trash cans once a week on the regular collection day.  The trash cans must be serviceable by PDC’s automated equipment. In 2019, Council approved a Contract with WASTEQUIP (19-137), which allowed the City to purchase 200 automated pick-up cans to replace the previous neighborhood cans that were being emptied manually by a neighborhood or business volunteers. Since then, Public Works has received more requests for neighborhood cans. This order will allow us to obtain the full 250 cans allowed per the contract and have extra cans on hand for replacement.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Funds for the cans will come from the refuse collection fund, Amount Not to Exceed $22,629.30.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Additional neighborhood trashcan requests will be fulfilled and serviced by PDC.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Additional neighborhood trash cans will be purchased, placed and serviced by PDC.

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The City will be unable to fulfill requests for additional neighborhood cans.
