BACKGROUND: The City of Peoria charges an annual fee for garbage fees to all property owners. The City contracts with Peoria County to collect those fees as part of the annual bill process. The County collects the fees and remits them as they are collected. If tax bills goes unpaid, those garbage bills come back to the City to collect. The City currently pays $150,000 per year for this service from the County
The amendment to the intergovernmental agreement is to increase the annual fee to $175,000. Staff feels this is in line with inflationary increases as this fee has not been increased since 2016.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The City will pay an additional $25,000 annual for this service from the County.
