Body

BACKGROUND:

Since 2003 the City of Peoria Police Department has deployed Physio-Control LIfePak 500 automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in its fleet of patrol vehicles.  Those AED’s have now reached the end of their lifespan and are no longer produced or supported by the manufacturer.  The majority of the AED’s purchased in 2003 are no longer operational.

With the procurement of 60 Philips Heartstart FRX defibrillators the department fleet of AED’s will be replenished and effectively deployed throughout the city in police squad cars.  Each AED unit comes with a carrying case, one spare set of pads, an infant/child key, and an 8 year warranty.  In January 2016, department personnel were trained on this model of AED.
