Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE the PURCHASE of Pavement Marking Material (Modified Urethane Paint), in the Amount of $126,562.50, from COLORADO PAINT. (All Council Districts)

BACKGROUND:
The Street Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for traffic pavement marking throughout the city of Peoria.
In recent years, the City purchased a plural component modified urethane vehicle to provide high quality, long lasting pavement markings. The material purchase which is the subject of this Communication is for white and yellow plural component urethane paint to be used in that vehicle.
Staff submitted a request for quotes and received two submissions. Colorado Paint was selected as the lowest vendor at $33.75 price per gallon for the purchase of 3,750 gallons totes for a total amount of $126,562.50.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Street Division provides pavement marking services for the City and to other jurisdictions. Public Works will be invoicing other jurisdictions for the labor, equipment and material necessary to provide requested pavement marking services, as the service is provided. The amount of services requested varies from year to year. Funding for this material is provided in account 1013041-504904.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City of Peoria and other area jurisdictions will have properly marked roads with a durable product that will meet State reflectivity standards.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The City would bid these items.
